SAG Website Maintenance

The SAG website is hosted by the NSS and maintained in WordPress. The following guide assumes familiarity with WordPress. There are many online tutorials for WordPress. The current theme (8/2026) is twenty-five. This is a block theme.

Pages

Pages are added and maintained using the normal WP dashboard interface. The following page templates are used:

Front Page: Used specifically for the Front Page (home).

Page – No Photo: Used for pages with photos.

Page – Photo: Used for pages without photos. A random photo is placed at the bottom of the page.

Note: New pages default to the “pages” template and should be changed. The navigation is changed by changing any template (a common pattern).

Events

Events are added or edited by selecting Events in the dashboard. Simply add the event and the calendar will be updated. The description can be used for additional information.

Newsletters (SAG Rag)

The newsletter is often too big to place in the media. They are stored in a separate folder on the site: sagrag. To add a newsletter do the following:

  1. To upload a new newsletter use the File Manager plug in found in the dashboard. Be sure the file name is consistent: The format is: “SAG Rag 44(3)”. Note the spaces!
  2. Edit the newsletter page: Newsletter. Add a link to the uploaded file. Hint: Copy an existing link, paste, then edit the text and URL.

Plugins

The following plugins are used on the site:

  • File Manager-Uploading files
  • The Event Calendar-The calendar
  • Photo Gallery-Gallery Page
  • Image Roulette-Random photo on pages
  • Contact From 7-Contact Us form
